Aubrey King-Lee

Entrepreneur, Mentor and Media Manager
Bangalore, India

Aubrey King-Lee is a Bangalore-born Anglo-Indian professional whose career blends business expertise with grassroots social enterprise. Armed with an MBA, he chose an unconventional path—leaving the corporate world to work in rural Madhya Pradesh, where he is building a village-based soap manufacturing start-up. His venture focuses on local sourcing, community employment, and sustainable small-scale production, reflecting his commitment to practical impact and inclusive growth.

Aubrey is deeply connected to his Anglo-Indian and Indian heritage, and explores this identity through both his work and his writing. In 2026, he will be presenting The Indian in Me at the 13th Anglo-Indian Reunion in Kochi, where he will share his personal journey of heritage, belonging, and rediscovery.

He represents a new generation of Anglo-Indians who honour their past while contributing meaningfully to India’s present.

Dr. RICHARD JOHNSON

University Academic, Mentor & Project Manager
Melbourne, Australia

Dr Richard Johnson, a long-time academic and researcher, has turned his skills towards uncovering the missing Indian link in his own family history — a personal “cold case” of identity. He works collaboratively with a diverse international group of Anglo-Indians, including filmmakers, artists, writers, researchers, and professionals, all united by the goal of recognising and celebrating the Indian heritage within Anglo-Indian culture.

He contributes to several group projects, including a research-informed fictional film, a book of illustrations, and an international virtual roundtable on The Indian In Me. His primary focus remains mapping his own family tree with an emphasis on rediscovering his Indian connection, a journey shared through collective resources and stories on the group’s website.

Richard previously contributed to the Passage from India exhibition at the Immigration Museum in Melbourne. Born in Gaya and having migrated to Australia in 1969, he has long embraced Australian life — especially its sporting culture.

ANDRE ALPHONSO

Business Owner, Management Consultant, Published Author, Keynote Speaker, Executive Coach, Group Facilitator
Sydney, Australia

A few months after turning fifty, André Alphonso left a successful corporate career, including serving as Managing Director of an international consulting firm, to start his own business. After 38 years away from India, he returned with his family for four years to launch his first venture — an experience he calls the adventure of a lifetime.

Since then, André has founded and led multiple companies in corporate training, consulting, coaching, and mindfulness across India and Australia, now working with clients worldwide. His career has always centred on developing human potential, though he most identifies with being an “adventurer”, collecting experiences rather than things.

He co-authored Strategic Connections (2015) and was featured in 50 Unsung Business Heroes (2019). Born in Calcutta and raised in Sydney, André has long explored questions of identity and heritage. His time living in India helped him embrace “the Indian in me”, making his involvement in this project a natural and meaningful continuation of that journey.
